Project: School of Business, Economics and Law – part of Västlänken

In connection with the expansion of Västlänken, the northeastern corner of the School of Business, Economics and Law was demolished to make room for a roughly 30-meter deep excavation in soil and rock. This excavation will in the future serve as one of the entrances to Haga Station. When the station construction is complete, the excavation will be backfilled and a new school building erected on top.

The project posed high technical and environmental demands, particularly regarding water intrusion. To avoid settlements and protect the surrounding older buildings, it was crucial that the construction was completely sealed. The solution involved a combination of jet grouting between the sheet pile toe and the bedrock, followed by curtain grouting around the entire excavation and systematic bottom grouting.

The work was carried out in a very confined area in central Gothenburg, with a strong focus on careful control, testing, and measurement throughout the grouting process. The project is a clear example of complex coordination between geotechnical, environmental, and logistical requirements in an urban environment.
